Dr. Cemil Izgi

Dr Cemil Izgi is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist with over two decades of clinical experience in cardiology and more than 15 years of practice in the United Kingdom. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of complex cardiovascular conditions and is an internationally recognized expert in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR).

Dr Izgi graduated from Hacettepe University Medical School in 2000 and completed his cardiology specialty training at the prestigious Koşuyolu Heart and Research Hospital in Istanbul. Following his training, he worked as a cardiologist providing both invasive and non-invasive cardiology services before moving to the UK in 2010 to undertake advanced subspecialty fellowship training in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance at Royal Brompton Hospital, one of the world`s leading cardiac centres.
He has remained at Royal Brompton Hospital for the past 15 years, during which time he obtained UK specialist registration in cardiology and was appointed as a substantive consultant.

Dr Izgi is fully registered as a cardiology specialist in both the United Kingdom and Turkey.
Dr Izgi provides comprehensive private cardiology consultations, offering expert assessment, diagnosis, and personalised management plans for a wide range of common cardiac conditions. His clinical expertise includes coronary artery disease, aortic disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, myocarditis and cardiomyopathies, with particular strength in using advanced cardiac imaging to guide accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions. As a recognised national and international expert in CMR, he is frequently involved in the assessment of complex and challenging cases.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Izgi holds academic roles as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute and Academic Tutor at Imperial College London Faculty of Medicine, reflecting his commitment to education, research, and high clinical standards. He has published extensively in the leading cardiology journals including JACC, Circulation and European Heart Journal, and was awarded a Highly Commended Accolade at the British Medical Journal Awards in Cardiovascular Team of the Year Category. He is among the inaugural Fellows of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, as well as a member of the Turkish Society of Cardiology.
