Dr. Bilal Arslan

Dr Bilal Arslan is a Consultant Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist in the London region.

He graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul School of Medicine, in July 2010. He completed his General Surgery residency program at the University of Health Sciences, Istanbul Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital, between 2012 and 2017. He took the Surgical Oncology  Clinical Fellowship exams and reached 10. (tenth) at the ranking among 200 (two hundred) General Surgeons all over Turkey. He completed the Surgical Oncology Fellowship Programme at Mersin University School of Medicine, Department of General Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology, between 2019-2022. Both centers are among Turkey’s prominent and largest surgery centers in terms of patient referral and treatment capabilities. He worked as a Surgical Oncologist before moving to the UK.

As a member, he has attended many courses and educational workshops of the Turkish Society of Colon and Rectum Surgery, the Turkish Surgical Association, and NHS to stay current. During his general surgery specialty training in 2017, he qualified with a surgical endoscopy training certificate. In 2018, he qualified with a Turkish Surgical Association Board Certificate.

During and after his surgical residency, he had a great interest in all aspects of General Surgery, particularly interested in colon and rectum surgery, breast surgery, thyroid surgery, hepatopancreatic biliary surgery, and benign anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids, anal fistula, and anal fissure. He has performed numerous surgical operations, both laparoscopic and open fashion. He has good communication skills and adaptability and is open to new challenges to develop himself and push his limits further.

He took the Intercollegiate MRCS-A and MRCS-B exams and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) in 2022. He also qualified with a General Medical Council (GMC) license in 2022.

Dr Arslan has an extensive research portfolio. He has published 13 papers in Peer-Reviewed journals and given many oral presentations at National and International surgical meetings. He has also written three chapters in two General Surgery books.

Currently, he is a Senior Robotic&Laparoscopic Clinical Fellow at University Hospitals Dorset in Bournemouth, United Kingdom.
