PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

I was born on 14 November 1983 in Malatya, Turkey. After completing my secondary education in Malatya, I graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine. I began my specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2006 and completed my residency at Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Training and Research Hospital. I then fulfilled my two-year compulsory service at Sanlıurfa Women’s Health and Maternity Hospital. I became an accredited specialist in June 2012 and was appointed as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in September 2012.

Between 2012 and 2024, I worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Istanbul, including 12 years in a busy private hospital. During my career, I have conducted approximately 20,000 births, including around 5,000 caesarean sections and 15,000 vaginal deliveries. I have extensive experience in vaginal birth after caesarean section (VBAC), water births, twin vaginal deliveries and breech births. I am highly experienced in managing obstetric emergencies, including advanced procedures such as hypogastric artery ligation and B-Lynch suturing for the management of postpartum haemorrhage to prevent maternal mortality.

My surgical experience includes abdominal, vaginal and laparoscopic hysterectomy; abdominal and laparoscopic myomectomy; ovarian cyst surgery; cystorectocele repair; transobturator tape (TOT) procedures; Burch colposuspension; Bartholin cyst surgery; and vaginoplasty. I also have a strong interest in laparoscopic surgery for uterine, ovarian and tubal pathologies, as well as endoscopic surgery including diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy.

Clinically, I have extensive experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology, with special interests in antenatal and intrapartum care, pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, cosmetic gynaecological surgery, breech birth, water birth and VBAC.

I also have a strong interest in family planning and sexual health. I am a Principal Trainer in special skills, a Family Planning Instructor, and an accredited trainer in the insertion and removal of Implanon. I have an interest in tuboplasty and I also practise as a sexual therapist.

Teaching is an important and rewarding part of my professional life. I have regularly taught midwifery and surgical nursing interns and continue to act as an Educational Supervisor for trainees. My current role allows me to teach all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team on a regular basis.

I am married and a mother of two children. My husband is a computer engineer. In September 2024, we relocated to London following my husband’s employment under a Skilled Worker Visa. I have since obtained full GMC registration and I am currently working as a Medical Doctor with a Special Interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Wellzone London Clinic.
